The Park Forest Board of Trustees will hold their next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive. The meeting will take place in the board room and is open to the public.

Residents who cannot attend in person can watch the meeting live online through the Village’s official website.

Resubdivision near Fire Training Area

Trustees will take final action on an ordinance approving a resubdivision plat for property at 97 N. Orchard Drive, adjacent to the Village’s Fire Training Area. The move would create a new buffer lot between training grounds and nearby homes, while clarifying utility easements and preserving access for School House Manor residents.

Staff say the subdivision would also position part of the parcel for future redevelopment along Orchard Drive.

Safe Routes to School grant

The board will consider a resolution authorizing up to $250,000 in funding for infrastructure improvements near Blackhawk School. The money would support new sidewalks, ADA upgrades, crosswalks, and a dedicated bike path.

Village officials said the project is designed in partnership with Park Forest-Chicago Heights School District 163 and will be fully reimbursed through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School program.

Road improvements to South Orchard Drive

Several items on the agenda involve engineering agreements for improvements to South Orchard Drive between Sauk Trail and Blackhawk Drive.

  • MFT Resolution: Trustees will vote on appropriating $94,400 in Motor Fuel Tax funds to pay for Phase 1 engineering.
  • Funding Resolution and Local Agency Agreement: The board will consider a formal agreement with the state to outline cost participation for the federally funded project.
  • Engineering Services Agreement: Trustees will decide whether to approve a $94,400 contract with Rina North America to complete environmental studies, traffic analysis, ADA evaluations, and other preliminary work.

Officials noted the project is eligible for 80 percent federal funding, with the Village’s 20 percent share covered through transportation development credits, meaning no net cost to Park Forest taxpayers.

Public participation

As with all regular meetings, Monday’s session will begin with reports from Village officers and time for citizen comments.

The meeting will be streamed live on the Village of Park Forest’s website. To view the agenda, click here
