The Village of Park Forest announced its official board meeting and holiday schedules for 2024. The Village Board of Trustees meets the first, third, and fourth Monday nights of the month at 7 p.m.
Additionally, the board hosts a Saturday Rules Meeting, typically on the first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m.
Village Manager Tom Mick said residents are encouraged to attend the board meetings to be involved and informed on what is happening in the Village.
"Residents can come to these meetings and share their thoughts and ideas with the mayor and trustees ," Mick said. "However, the public comment at Monday evening board meetings is managed by a specific set of rules of procedure - which states back and forth dialogue is not permitted."
Mick said residents can speak for five minutes, two more minutes longer than state law requires. He said that when residents bring up issues at the board meetings, those issues are deferred to Village staff to address the problems. Often, the trustees or mayor will meet with the residents after the meeting to discuss any issues that may have been brought up.
"If residents would prefer an informal dialogue, they are invited to attend the meetings on Saturday mornings," Mick said. "Those meetings are a great way for residents to meet the mayor and the board and talk to them in a more relaxed setting about their concerns."
