The Village of Park Forest is rolling out the winter edition of Discover Magazine, which is expected to arrive in residents' mailboxes next week.

Communications Coordinator Joshua Vinson said this edition will include several feature stories on Village staff and residents, including a cover story on Park Forest Police Chief Brian Rzyski.

"We sat down with Rzyski, and he gave us an insight on what it is like to be a police chief during trying times," Vinson said. "His cover story should assure residents that his goal for the Park Forest Police Department is to ensure everyone feels safe in the Village."

Vinson said that in addition to messaging from various departments at Village Hall, he noted that this winter edition of Discover Magazine would feature a message from Mayor Joseph Woods.

"Mayor Woods hit on numerous topics in his message to residents from highlighting the grand reopening of the renovated Somonauk Nature Adventure Park to addressing residents' concerns about Cook County property tax system," Vinson said. 

Vinson said that with the winter months ahead, Discover Magazine will educate residents about the Park Forest emergency snow route, provide information on how the Department of Public Works prepares for winter storms, and teach them ways to prevent street flooding.

"Discover Magazine is a good resource for new residents to learn about the community they live in and help residents who've been here for a while to stay connected and engaged with the happenings in Park Forest," Vinson said. "So when these magazines start arriving at residents' mailboxes next week, they'll learn about the accomplishments of the Village throughout the year and see what's on the horizon for next year."
