Officer Giovanni Goycochea of the Park Forest Police Department recently received the Term Award for the third quarter of 2023.
The Term Award is given every three months to the most outstanding member of the Park Forest Police Department who has performed in a consistently superior fashion and is voted on by fellow officers.
Chief Brian Rzyski said during the third quarter, Goycochea recovered multiple stolen vehicles, seized several illegally possessed firearms, and affected numerous felony and misdemeanor arrests.
"Officer Goycochea is a hard-working officer who consistently demonstrates professionalism and always strives to make our community safer," Rzyski said. "His efforts this quarter show he deserves this reward."
Rzyski said Goycochea also routinely helps fellow officers, and he has a strong focus on community relations. He added Goycochea's work has undoubtedly resulted in a safer Park Forest.
Goycochea joined the Park Forest Police Department in May of 2022. Before coming to the Village, he was an officer in northwest suburban Schaumburg.
Goycochea said when he learned he was this quarter's recipient of the Term Award, he was speechless and overwhelmed.
"I'm beyond thankful for the award," Goycochea said. "[I'm] grateful for the opportunity to work for the Village of Park Forest and the supportive administration, [and I'm] thankful for my shift as well."
Goycochea added, "My biggest motivation is to serve the community as best as I can in any way, whether that's being protective, having a simple conversation with people, or responding to calls. I remind myself daily of the passion I have for this profession. Especially the commitment I made when I took this profession."
