The Park Forest Fire Department has participated in school career days at Rich East High School, Michelle Obama Middle School and Mohawk School. Firefighters relate personal experiences they have encountered during their career. They also outline a typical day in the life of a firefighter and explain to students the importance of education in a fire service career. Several students have been mentored by career firefighters after these career day visits.
