Park Forest Holiday Tree & Light Recycling Program
Park Forest is proud to offer its annual Holiday Tree and Light Recycling Program to help residents recycle responsibly during the holiday season.
Holiday Tree Recycling
Undecorated and unbagged Christmas trees may be dropped off at the Aqua Center parking lot, 30 North Orchard, beginning the day after Christmas through January 17.
Collected trees will be chipped and reused in Park Forest parks or added to the Village mulch pile, which is available to residents at the Parks Department yard, 75 Park Street. Using mulch in landscaping supports water retention, suppresses weeds, and serves as a valuable soil amendment that promotes healthy gardens and landscapes.
Residents may request a truckload of mulch for a small fee when landscaping season resumes—or pick up mulch for free.
Holiday Light Recycling
Holiday lights cannot be placed in curbside recycling. The Village has partnered with Gaby Iron and Metal, a local metal recycling company, to offer free holiday light recycling to residents.
Collection bins are available at the following locations:
Important Reminders
Please remove all decorations before dropping off trees or lights.
By recycling your trees and lights, you are helping Park Forest reduce waste, cut emissions, and keep valuable materials out of landfills. Let’s keep our community sustainable this holiday season.
