Sustainability Coordinator
Carrie joined the Economic Development and Planning Department in April 2019 as the Sustainability Coordinator. Her main responsibilities include furthering the goals of the Climate Action and Resilience Plan and the Park Forest Sustainability Plan, continuing the LEED Community certification as well as coordinating and implementing green practices through community outreach and education.
Carrie has been involved in sustainability education, implementation and planning for over 10 years with the Village of Flossmoor and surrounding communities. She has developed curriculum and facilitated green teams at Western Avenue Elementary School and Parker Junior High School. Carrie has constructed and maintained organic teaching gardens at Western Avenue and Homewood Flossmoor High School, set up a seed library at Flossmoor Library and organized and managed environmental community events such as Community Clean-up days, Recyclepalooza and Pumpkin Smash. She has been a Flossmoor Green Commissioner for seven years, a member of the Chicago Southland Green Committee for 4 years and a new member of South Metropolitan Higher Education Consortium. You can reach Carrie at cmalfeo@vopf.com or 708-503-8153.
Greenest Region Corps Member
Haley Crim joined the Village in October 2019 as the GRCorps member for 2019-2020. She is assisting with data collection and reporting, greenhouse gas inventorying, renewable energy procurement, LEED and EnergyStar certifications, and anything else the village needs.
Originally from Maryland, Haley recently graduated from Bates College in Maine with a degree in environmental science. She wrote her senior thesis on renewable energy in urban environments, so this position is a natural fit. She has worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for the past three summers, facilitating environmental education and municipal climate action initiatives. Haley is passionate about energy, climate change, rock climbing, and movies, and she’s excited to get to know Park Forest! You can reach Haley at hcrim@vopf.com or 708-503-8153.
