The Village of Park Forest has launched a new social media campaign highlighting its parks and outdoor spaces, encouraging residents to enjoy the changing seasons and explore the natural amenities available close to home.
The campaign features photos and stories from parks throughout the community, including Somonauk Nature Adventure Park, Central Park, Logan Park, Rail Fan Park, Thorn Creek Nature Center, Old Plank Road Trail, Veterans Park, and smaller neighborhood parks. Each post aims to remind residents of the variety of recreational opportunities that exist right in their own backyard.
“This campaign is about reconnecting residents with the spaces that make Park Forest unique,” said Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager James Guirguis. “We want people to see these parks not just as places to pass through, but as places to gather, unwind, and enjoy throughout the season change.”
Guirguis added that the fall season is a perfect time to showcase the beauty of Park Forest’s park system. “As the leaves start to change and the weather cools, it’s the best opportunity for families and individuals to get outside and experience everything the Village's parks have to offer,” he said.
The campaign will run across the Village’s official Facebook page, with new park features released weekly through Nov. 10.
“Community engagement doesn’t just happen at meetings—it happens in Village parks, on Village trails, and in those shared outdoor moments,” Guirguis said. “We hope this campaign inspires residents to rediscover the joy of being outdoors in Park Forest.
Those who identify a park pavilion they may like to secure for a private event next summer can participate in the annual Parks Pavillion Permit Lottery to be held in February. Event details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Village encourages residents to submit some of their favorite fall pictures taken in Village parks this season.
