The Village of Park Forest Board of Trustees will convene for a Rules and Special Regular Meeting on Monday, June 9,  at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive.

The session will feature a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget and deliberations on several significant ordinances and contracts.

Public Hearing on FY 2025-2026 Budget

The meeting will open with a public hearing on the proposed budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. The budget, which has been under review since early May, outlines the Village's financial plan, including revenue projections and expenditure allocations. The General Fund budget is balanced, projecting a surplus of over $1.1 million. The budget aims to address major financial challenges by assessing core versus non-core services using a triple bottom line approach that considers social, environmental, and financial impacts.

Key Ordinances and Resolutions

Following the public hearing, the Board will consider several ordinances and resolutions:

  • Municipal Grocery Taxes: An ordinance proposing the implementation of a Municipal Grocery Retailers’ Occupation Tax and a Municipal Grocery Service Occupation Tax.
  • Sale of Personal Property: A resolution authorizing the sale by public auction of personal property owned by the Village.
  • Housing Program Amendment: A resolution to amend the Village's participation in the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Strong Community Program.

Infrastructure and Capital Projects

The Board will also deliberate on contracts and agreements related to infrastructure improvements:

  • LED Sign Installation: Contract for the installation of a new LED sign on Western Avenue.
  • Floor Installation at 361 Artist Walk: Contract for floor installation at the specified location.
  • Street Light Repairs: Fiscal 2026 project for conduit installation for street light repairs.
  • Water Main Repair Supplies: Procurement of repair sleeves for water main maintenance.
  • Sanitary Sewer Lining: Central Basin 21-inch Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) sanitary sewer lining project.
  • Lift Station Replacement Design: Engineering services agreement for the design of the Chestnut Street Lift Station replacement.
