The Park Forest Community Oscars is back this year.

The biennial event will kick off on Saturday, Jan 27., at 6 p.m. at Freedom Hall. Community Relations Coordinator Evelyn Randle said the award ceremony is a way for Park Forest residents to celebrate a business or person who went above and beyond.

"We've received dozens of nominations, and that shows that the residents here in Park Forest are engaging and want to celebrate those around them," Randle said. "Unfortunately, everyone won't win, however, being nominated is still an honor within itself."

Randle said this year's Oscars will be held at Freedom Hall with a Hollywood feel.

"We're going all out this year," Randle said. "We'll have a red carpet with cameras and bright lights, and our communications team will interview the nominees. We want to celebrate our nominees and give them their flowers while they still can smell them."

This year, the Village of Park Forest celebrates its 75th anniversary. Randle said the Park Forest Community Oscars is the kick-off to the planned year-long celebration.

"With this being our 75th anniversary, we're stepping our game up this year," Randle said. "We're rolling out a video that will display the Village's history. Also, we'll share the schedule for the year - so residents will know what upcoming events are planned."

The Park Forest Community Oscars is scheduled for Saturday, Jan 27., at 6 p.m. at Freedom Hall.
