The Village of Park Forest, located approximately 25 miles south of Chicago, is a diverse community of approximately 24,000 residents. Originally developed as one of the nation's first planned communities for returning veterans of World War II, Park Forest was incorporated in 1949.
Career Firefighter/Paramedic
Nature of Work:
Firefighters are responsible for the suppression and prevention of fire within the Village. In addition, all individuals appointed are required, prior to completion of the probationary period, to become State of Illinois Certified Paramedics in order to perform emergency medical duties. This certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Requirements:
High school graduate or GED; college work preferred
minimum age of 21 (at time of hire)
Ability to prevent and suppress fires
Ability to achieve and maintain paramedic certification
Ability to follow directions
Ability to work under pressure and communicate with the public
Salary Range:
$50,294 to $72,809 per year (eight years to max)

Salary Range:
Starting pay is $8.42 per hour and increases based on certifications and years of service.
