Car 70

Car 70, a 2006 Ford Expedition, is assigned to the Fire Chief providing for the transportation of the Chief during emergencies and day to day activities.  This vehicle is set-up to support the firefighting and command functions of this office including multi-channel communications capability.  This vehicle is also 4-wheel drive for severe weather and off-road operations, allowing the Chief to get wherever he needs, whenever he needs.  Administrative vehicles are replaced on an as needed basis and are often stepped down as fire prevention or station cars during their fire service lives.

Car 71

Car 71, a 2008 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Pick-up truck, is the vehicle utilized by the department’s Deputy Fire Chief.  In addition to providing support for fire, EMS and command operations, this vehicle can stand in for any of the department’s tow vehicles.  With a diesel engine, this vehicle provides sufficient tow capacity and allows the vehicle to idle at emergency scenes while it acts as an initial command post in a most fuel efficient manner.  The Deputy Chief also uses this vehicle for technical rescue activities associated with the Combined Agency Response Team and Illinois Task Force 1, the State’s Urban Search & Rescue Team.
