The Village of Park Forest's Public Works Department is holding a contest to name its newest Snow Fighter Plow Truck for the upcoming winter season. This initiative is designed to foster community engagement and creativity among residents.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to brainstorm and submit their most inventive, creative, bold, funny, characteristic, and suitable snow fighter names. The contest officially began last week, and participants have until this Friday at 5:30 p.m. to submit their entries.
Public Works Director Roderick Ysaguirre expressed that this contest allows for fun and creativity and provides an excellent opportunity for the Public Works Department to connect with its residents. He said he hopes to see various imaginative suggestions that reflect the creative and artistic spirit of Park Forest.
"We are thrilled to launch this exciting new tradition and encourage the community to join us in a fun and engaging way," stated Ysaguirre. "Our hope is that a large number of residents will participate in this contest and that it will expand into a beloved annual event over the years."
Following this submission period, staff will review all entries and compile a top 10 list. Voting will commence starting the week of Dec. 16. A dedicated online link will be made available for all community members to cast their votes. The voting will continue until Friday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m., allowing everyone to weigh in on their favorite names. The winning name will be revealed on Monday, Dec. 23, on the Village's Facebook page.
"The winner of the naming contest will enjoy a special photo opportunity with the snow fighter, which adds a personal touch to their recognition," Ysaguirre explained. "Additionally, they will be publicly recognized by the Park Forest Board of Trustees at a meeting next month, highlighting their contribution to this community initiative. To top it off, the winner will receive a gift card, making it even more worthwhile to brainstorm as many names as possible."
Once the final name is chosen and announced, a name decal will be affixed to the snowplow truck, proudly displaying its new designation for all to see. Residents can click here to access the flyer to learn more about this contest and for further details.
