The Village of Park Forest is releasing its digital version of the winter edition of Discover Magazine. 

Park Forest Communications Coordinator Joshua Vinson said this is the first time the Village has released a digital copy ahead of mail delivery; a move not originally planned.

“We’re excited about all the great content rolled into the latest version of Discover Magazine, but residents are going to have to wait a little longer than expected for their usual copy in the mail” Vinson said. 

“We wanted the community to receive the mailer in the first part of December, but experienced some unexpected delays that will push things back by about a week or so. That means at least one event highlighted in the magazine will have come and gone. So we decided to release the electronic version of the magazine immediately, and give a special mention to the wonderful Holiday Market event coming up that all residents should come on out to, to get into the holiday spirit.”   

Park Forest’s Winter Holiday Market is set for 10 a.m. this Saturday, at the corner of Main Street and Cunningham Drive, featuring an appearance by Santa Claus, live reindeer, a variety of food trucks, and numerous local vendors offering various products for holiday shoppers.  

Vinson said other highlights residents can look forward to reading about in the latest Village magazine include:   

• The success of recent efforts between local and state officials to engage the Cook County Assessor’s Office regarding property taxes in Park Forest
• A recap of some of the year’s most popular events including the Veterans Day Celebration and House Music Night 
• The announced retirement of Village Manager Tom Mick 
• Lisa Rock’s upcoming performance at Freedom Hall on Dec. 17
